Louisiana Assistive Technology Initiative (LATI)
 

The Louisiana Assistive Technology Initiative (LATI) is a project to promote information, resources and professional development about assistive technology for educators and families. LATI provides funding for regional assistive technology centers across the state. The purpose of the centers is to provide local training and hands-on support to build district capacity for the implementation of assistive technology in schools. In addition to the regional centers, LATI provides state-wide leadership, guidance and resources for district policies and procedures, assistive technology funding and training. 

FACILITATORS

SHARON EDWARDS
Speech Language Pathologist

Sharon has a Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology and has worked in the area of assistive technology for 17 years. Before joining the Center, Sharon worked for Ascension Parish School Board as the Assistive Technology Specialist.  She has presented at numerous conferences on the local, regional and national levels.  She has served as the AT facilitator for the South River Assistive Technology Center for the last 11 years. 

KRISTIE STAPLER
Special Education Teacher

Kristie has a BS degree in Mild/Moderate Special Education and has worked in the area of education and technology for 28 years.  Before joining the Center, Kristie worked for St. Charles Parish as a Special Education Teacher for 14 years and 3 years as the Special Education Technology Facilitator.  Over the past 20 years, she has presented at numerous conferences on the local, regional and national levels.  Kristie has served as an AT facilitator for the South River Assistive Technology Center for the last 11 years.​

Take I-10 toward New Orleans.  Take exit 177 – Tanger Outlet.  Take a left onto Hwy 30.  Go to the 3rd red light and take a left onto Burnside/Hwy 44

Go to the 5th red light and take a left onto Roosevelt St.  Take an immediate left into the parking lot (LeBlanc Special Service Center)

 

From New Orleans:

 

Take I-10 toward Baton Rouge.  Take exit 179 – Gonzales/Burnside.  Go to the 6th red light and take a left onto Roosevelt St.  Take an immediate left into the parking lot (LeBlanc Special Service Center)

 

From Donaldsonville:

 

Take LA-70 East toward Hwy 22 (Sorrento).  Take a right at the caution light on Hwy 22.  Merge on to I-10 towards Baton Rouge.  Take exit 179 – Gonzales/Burnside.  Go to the 6th red light and take a left onto Roosevelt St.  Take an immediate left into the parking lot (LeBlanc Special Service Center)
